LAST HURRAH OF SUMMER!

Last night I did another quick little layout from a sketch from the fun site Let's Get Sketchy!  It was the October Team A week 1 sketch shown below.

For my layout I rotated the sketch 1/4 turn clockwise.

I really enjoyed the little extras I used on here...the title has a few layers on pop dots for dimension and I finally got some burlap that everyone has been using plus a wonderful fabric canvas ribbon.

Today is the last day for October challenges but be sure to check out Let's Get Sketchy tomorrow for a new reveal!

FROM A QUICK LITTLE SKETCH

Today I would like to share with you a layout I completed the other night using Let's Get Sketchy October Team B Week 2 sketch...

Here is the sketch -

And here is the layout I created with some photos of my son fishing earlier this year...

Not having a working computer at home has been really tough and as I am at the library I had to photo it with my phone and send it to Facebook so the quality of the photo is not what I am used to sharing.  I hope that you are able to see some of the details.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Watch for more posts coming sometime between tomorrow and November 1.

COLORFUL CREATIONS FAVORITE THINGS BLOG HOP

Hello and welcome to my post for the Colorful Creations My Favorite Things blog hop!  If you have arrived here from Life & Creations of Tee blog you are in the right place!! If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Colorful Creations site to start at the beginning.

Make sure to comment & follow my blog in order to be eligible to win the prize!

My name is Paula and here is my project showcasing my favorite things which are to use alternatives to traditional art supplies.

Here are the items I used to create this mixed media journal page.

On the left is drywall tape, in the center painters tape and on the end my absolute favorite for mixed media, Dry Dex Spackling.

I of course started with a blank journal page that I had put on a thin coat of gesso.  To that I had added some watercolor paints...

but I did this in an unusual way...instead of brushing them on I sprayed water on the card they were on and swiped the card all around until the page was covered.

Next, I added the painter's tape -

and the dry wall tape -

and now for the assortment of other items -

above you can see a corrugated coffee cozy, an image cut from a tag, a paper napkin with a flower on it, a piece of chevron straw, some gold crinkly paper...

there is a piece of zip code paper from an old zip code directory, a piece of a map, a stamp reading detour, a painted flower...

these sections have some parts cut from a wonderful envelope that all these goodies came in, plus a piece of doily, a ribbon and postage stamps.

On here you can see some circle string, more chevron straw, that detour stamp and the spackle that I added through my favorite Crafter's Workshop template.

And now that you have seen so many of the little pieces here is a shot showing the finale.

There you can see a few other elements that I had not mentioned earlier, some torn notebook paper that I added the saying "Follow your heart", and a banner diecut tag to which I added the saying "Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go" which was adhered onto a journaling card, a paper with stitching on it, a ribbon with another piece of that journaling card with the saying "It's the Journey NOT the Destination" on it.

All of these wonderful elements came to me in an art journaling swap about the theme "Journey" on Soul Scrappers.

Thanks so much for joining us on the blog, make sure you hop on over to the Colorful Creations blog to post your creation!

Make sure you make Colorful Creations your last stop on the hop to see how to win the wonderful prize up for grabs!

QUOTE ME...

I decided to work with a quote when I did my layout using the sketch from the October challenge over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.

Here is the great sketch by Bev Code that I used -

I was originally planning on working on a layout about a journey and chose this quote from a batch I found about journeys.

'No man ever steps in the same ricer twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.'  Heraclitus

and here is my layout -

Photos are of my son Thomas just after opening day of fishing season this past April.

Don't forget to stop by at Scrapping Everyday Miracles and enter a layout, card or project for your chance to win a great prize!

A QUICK SHARE ON THE WAY TO BED.......

It's getting late but I wanted to share 2 layouts that I have just recently completed.

The first uses photos from our trip to Virgina back in October 2006 when we went to the Battle of Yorktown. While there we were able to create panels for the America's Heritage Flag, which is one of the largest handmade American flags ever seen.  It was unfurled in May 2007 at the America's 400th Anniversary weekend.

My next layout uses a sketch and color combo from Let's Get Sketchy.  Sadly I am too late to enter it in either of those challenges.

and my layout -

I am going to share these layouts with Robin's Scrap Nest and Word Art Wednesday Anything Goes challenge #152, and in Soul Scrappers challenge ATW22 for a layout about an attraction in your home town.

Hope that you have enjoyed seeing our little part in making history and some nature photos from White Clay Creek State Park.

Sweet dreams!
