THE CHRISTMAS FAIRY!!!

I am in a Christmas Fairy swap over at

I had fun working on this...

I used my first armoire tag!  

 

And I used unusual materials (for the Thrifty Tursday challenge on Addicted 2 Paper Dolls Facebook group) - her skirt is this great mesh that I found at Dollar Tree and her wings are made from pointysettia leaves - also from Dollar Tree!

I hope that you have enjoyed seeing this fun creation and that my swap partner is going to love her too!  I am having a hard time thinking of parting with her but she goes postal in the morning!

HAPPY NATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY!

Today I am going to share a few layouts I created today for National Scrapbook Day.

The first uses a few funny photos from the crop I went to last September at Rivercrest Farm in a beautiful renovated barn.  I created this for Chris' Dinner Menu challenge for the NSD Crop over at A Cherry on Top.

This was the menu I chose -
Beverage - Water - faux or real stitching
Appetizer - Fried Calamari - diamonds
Main Course - Chicken Parmesan - 2 sheets cardstock
Side Dish - Roasted Vegetable - Doily
Salad - Caesar - something brown
Dessert - ice cream - my choice - embossing

LOOK WHO STOLE MY HEART!

Today I'm here to share a layout of my first pets beyond goldfish. They were actually my son's pets first but when he saw what cleaning the cage entailed they quickly became mine.  They are the two cutest little boy guinea pigs.  He named them Beavis and Butthead which stuck immediately. They are so funny.  Beavis always preferred Thomas and he runs into the igloo whenever I go to pet him (unless I have treats with me). Butthead on the other hand has always loved me.  He comes out and lays quietly and lets me pet him and brush his hair. He of course also loves treats.

My layout today is for my challenge, UUS16 - Using Up Scraps - Ribbon! over at Soul Scrappers

As the prize I am donating this month is going to go to the person who uses their scraps of ribbon the most creative way I decided to keep my ribbon use simple.

and here is the layout I created using a few strips of ribbon from my scrap box and some washi tape.

Aren't my little critter babies the cutest?  Who could resist them? That is Beavis on the left and Butthead on the right.

Who is that hiding behind that mask?

Pinque Peacock opened a new challenge blog with this first unusual challenge - create an altered mask.  

1.  Your altered mask MUST fit within of one of the following themes (the theme you followed on your mask must be recognizable to the challenge moderators)

•  Valentine's Day/LOVE 
•  Mardi Gras
•  St. Patrick's Day
•  Shabby Chic 
•  Steampunk

2. Your entry must have some sort of Bling element. Lets see some sparkle!

3. The mask must feature your choice, either feathers, ribbon or lace, or some combination of these.

I decided this might be fun to try and I gathered some masks and a bunch of my odd assortment of trims, and then I put it off for nearly the entire month.  Now that we are down to the wire I finally got to it.  

I was so out of my comfort zone that I never took photos as I was going along but it has lots of feathers on the left, there is a slew of different ribbons and lace hanging down the side and it's rimmed in lace.  For the bling the eyes and edges are rimmed in pearls and there is a vintage button with a sparkly stone in a flower mixed into the feathers.

Here are a few close-ups so you can see some of the details a bit better.

I was happy with the end results but the photos really don't do it justice.  It's so hard to capture the details with everything being black but I wanted to keep with the elegance and there just wasn't any color I wanted to add to it that I felt would keep the feel.


Although it is down to the wire, if I finish up my DT assignments I may try and sneak in another mask since I have supplies to make a few more.
