I started by coating my art journal page with a layer of gesso. Then I took out a few Crafters Workshop templates and a little jar of Dry Dex Spackling. (yes - the kind you use on the wall!) I wanted something with a lot of texture.
Next I started adding color. I used several Ranger paint daubers, watercolor crayons, Derwent inktense blocks, and Adirondack dimensional pearls. I blended them together with a wet cosmetic sponge.
I wanted to be sure that the texture was more defined so I took some more gesso and scraped it across the top.
To represent the troubles I have been having I took a paint brush loaded with black gesso and splattered it several times randomly on the page.
And finally...I chose from the lyrics -
You with the sad eyes
Don`t be discouraged
Oh, I realize
It`s hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that`s why I love you
So don`t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors
Are beautiful like a rainbow
Show me a smile then,
Don`t be unhappy
Can`t remember when
I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you`ve taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I`ll be there
And I`ll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that`s why I love you
So don`t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
Your true colors
Are beautiful like a rainbow
(Can`t remember when I last saw you laughing)
If this world makes you crazy
And you`ve taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I`ll be there
And I`ll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that`s why I love you
So don`t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors
True colors are shining through
I see your true colors
And that`s why I love you
So don`t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors
Are beautiful like a rainbow
and I added them to the page -
Thanks for dropping by. I hope that you have enjoyed this blast from the past of music and my interpretation.
