HAPPY MID-MONTH PLUS SOME EXCITING NEWS!

Welcome to the middle of November.  While I'm sure some of us are getting ready for our big Thanksgiving celebration coming up soon I have a fun fall layout to share with you from the Colorful Creations team.

Here is the sketch we were provided with:

and this month a Mood Board was also included:

and here is the layout I created:

I so wish that I could get a better photo to share with you...being without a computer at home and having to do everything from the phone and the library computer is so difficult.

Please head over to the Colorful Creations page and enter your own wonderful creation.

This layout was also inspired by Rochelle's Word Art over on Sketches4All . I used a photo of me from a beautiful fall day in Delaware just last week and also added some fall leaves as embellishment.

I also want to enter this layout over at Word Art Wednesday challenge #158 Anything goes.

And now for the exciting news...Colorful Creations will be leaving after December but starting up with a wonderful new site called Picture This! You really need to head right over there and see what it is going to be all about!  There is a DT call going on until December 1st.

COLORFUL CREATIONS FAVORITE THINGS BLOG HOP

Hello and welcome to my post for the Colorful Creations My Favorite Things blog hop!  If you have arrived here from Life & Creations of Tee blog you are in the right place!! If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Colorful Creations site to start at the beginning.

Make sure to comment & follow my blog in order to be eligible to win the prize!

My name is Paula and here is my project showcasing my favorite things which are to use alternatives to traditional art supplies.

Here are the items I used to create this mixed media journal page.

On the left is drywall tape, in the center painters tape and on the end my absolute favorite for mixed media, Dry Dex Spackling.

I of course started with a blank journal page that I had put on a thin coat of gesso.  To that I had added some watercolor paints...

but I did this in an unusual way...instead of brushing them on I sprayed water on the card they were on and swiped the card all around until the page was covered.

Next, I added the painter's tape -

and the dry wall tape -

and now for the assortment of other items -

above you can see a corrugated coffee cozy, an image cut from a tag, a paper napkin with a flower on it, a piece of chevron straw, some gold crinkly paper...

there is a piece of zip code paper from an old zip code directory, a piece of a map, a stamp reading detour, a painted flower...

these sections have some parts cut from a wonderful envelope that all these goodies came in, plus a piece of doily, a ribbon and postage stamps.

On here you can see some circle string, more chevron straw, that detour stamp and the spackle that I added through my favorite Crafter's Workshop template.

And now that you have seen so many of the little pieces here is a shot showing the finale.

There you can see a few other elements that I had not mentioned earlier, some torn notebook paper that I added the saying "Follow your heart", and a banner diecut tag to which I added the saying "Take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go" which was adhered onto a journaling card, a paper with stitching on it, a ribbon with another piece of that journaling card with the saying "It's the Journey NOT the Destination" on it.

All of these wonderful elements came to me in an art journaling swap about the theme "Journey" on Soul Scrappers.

Thanks so much for joining us on the blog, make sure you hop on over to the Colorful Creations blog to post your creation!

Make sure you make Colorful Creations your last stop on the hop to see how to win the wonderful prize up for grabs!

MORE FROM MT CUBA!

Last week I shared two layouts with some amazing butterfly photos taken last summer at Mt Cuba. Today, I am going to share some flowers.  I created my layout using the second August sketch from Colorful Creations.

Here is the sketch:

I chose to rotate the sketch 1/4 turn clockwise.

I realized after all was said and done that I rotated the sketch but left the 2 diagonal strips where they were...instead of putting them across the bottom where they would be....LOL!

Don't forget to head over to the Colorful Creations blog and check out the other wonderful DT samples and add yours!

JUST BEFORE BED

Not much time for creating today.  I had great plans to get a lot of creating done but things don't always work out as they should.  I had to take my son to the post office to get his passport this afternoon and tonite I had a meeting at church.  Next thing I know it's nearly bedtime!

I have two more layouts from my day at Nemours last summer.  (one from last night and one from tonight!)

First I have a page inspired by challenge #92 over at Feeling Sketchy.

Next is the Team A sketch from the Colorful Creations blog.

and here is what I did with it -

I know this is a really short post for me but I've been staying up far too late recently and tomorrow I have a work day so I have to call it a night already!  I promise to have something more for you tomorrow - at least THAT is the plan!

Have a great night!

Here's a peek at the sketch:

as I am on Team B I don't have a sample for you today.

Over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles there are a few new challenges ready for you...

The Theme -
Each new day is a gift.

James 1:17  "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

ANOTHER WONDERFUL COLLECTION

For today I am here to show you Colorful Creations blog 2nd sketch challenge for the month of May. This is the sketch we had to work with:

These photos are of the Campbell Collection of Soup Tureens at Winterthur.  I rotated the sketch 1/4 turn right.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope that you will enjoy a visit to this wonderful museum as I have plenty of photos to come.  (many of which you have probably by now already seen as I prepared this post before creating many of the layouts you have already seen!)

HAPPY MAY!

April showers bring May flowers!  And May 1st brings new challenges.  Over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles the theme is Renew - New - Rebirth and the Scripture Inspiration is:

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

there is a new card sketch-

As soon as I saw the sketch I thought - washi tape!  So my border and all the horizontal and vertical strips are made from washi tape.  And, because of the see through texture of it I decided to stamp my sentiment onto vellum.

and there's also a new layout sketch:

and there is a new sketch over at the Colorful Creations blog also.  I am on Team B so you won't see my design for 2 weeks but here is a peek at the sketch from today.  Head over to the site to see what Team A has to inspire you.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I have created and will now head over to the sites and enter something of your own!

COLORFUL CREATIONS SPRING FLING BLOG HOP!

Welcome to the Colorful Creations Spring Fling Blog Hop!  I don’t know about you but the ladies here at CC are ready for some sunshine.  How about you????

To help us get ready to usher Spring in, we decided to have a Spring themed Blog Hop so all the projects you find along the hop will be themed around Spring. Make sure you visit each DT member’s blog!

You should have come from Xara‘s blog, if not, please go back to the Colorful Creations blog to start the hop from the beginning.

For my hop challenge I would like you to create anything BUT a card or a layout.

I decided to create an art journal page.

I started the way I always do by covering my page with gesso.

Next I added two shades of brown acrylic paint by drizzling and dropping the paint and spreading it with a foam brush.

I had some Adirondack Color Wash Mist in Espresso so I added a layer of that.

All winter I have been saving my coffee cozies as I knew there would be something fun to do with them.  I finally decided what to use them for!  I got out a variety of Sizzix floewr dies and...

after cutting them I colored them with various bright colors of acrylic paint.

As I painted each one I dabbed it onto my journal page to add some color and texture.

Next I took two shades of green acrylic paint and added some grass.

I assembled the flowers into layers and bent the petals up for more added texture.  I took some white stickers and added the phrase 'Spring has Sprung!' I placed the finished flowers around the page and glued them down using Glossy Accents so that I was sure they would stay put.

And the final results were:

Once you have completed your project, please head back over to the CC blog to upload your entry. Please tag your entry: SFPAULA. The more you play, the better your chances of winning this great prize courtesy of Colorful Creations!

ANY PROJECT NOT PROPERLY TAGGED WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE DRAWING!!!

Now head on over to Christina V‘s blog and see the great challenge she has in store for you!

Remember you have to have your projects linked up no later than midnight, CST, March 29th.
