SAN REMO 1982

My first creation for today uses a sketch from Scrapping Everyday Miracles.  The twist was to use distressing.  I have such a hard time with the shabby chic style because my usual work is simple and graphic and is usually boys so I don't do much with flowers and lace.  This is a photo of my Mom taken at the Royal Hotel Gardens in San Remo back in 1982.

Here is the sketch:

My layout:

I hope you have enjoyed my attempt at shabby chic.  Hopefully I will be able to get one more layout in before bed.  Off to work!

WHAT A DAY!

This photo was the end of one of our days at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  It had been beautiful all day and then as we started back to pick up the bus there was a tremendous downpour and we were totally soaked all the way through.  I chose a sketch and color combination from Sketches with Color.  You also needed to use a doily.

I rotated the sketch 1/4 turn counterclockwise.

MORE FROM CAMP!

My last layout for the evening is using more photos from Rev War Camp 2004 and another sketch from Scrapbook.com. The other criteria with the sketch was that you had to use arrows.  They gave a 2 page sketch but this is a one page sketch challenge so I chose the section on the left.  My arrows are stamped on the borders with blue ink. I did this layout in monochromatic blue for this weeks challenge at Tuesday Throwdown.

And now that the weekend's goal has been met I am off to bed!  Sweet Dreams!  Come back tomorrow for more!

A HISTORY LESSON

Today I did a layout using a sketch for the monthly challenge at Scrapbook.com and a charm for challenge #121 Charms and More at Crafts and Me.  These photos are from my eldest son's second year at Revolutionary War Day Camp at The Old Barracks in Trenton, NJ.  Here he is part of the Color Guard and they are taking down the flag and folding it appropriately.

SPRING IS IN THE AIR!

I am NOT a winter person so I am SO looking forward to spring.  Not that this winter has been dreadful as winters go - we haven't had too much bitter cold and really no snow to speak of but...I still long for spring.  There was a quickfire challenge over at Outlaw Woman Scrapbook Emporium about spring so that got me in the mood.  Then I sat down to work on challenges and needed to do anything but a square for Kaboodle Doodles challenge #159, a circle card for Paper Pretties challenge PWC246, and Use a Mojo Monday sketch for More than Favors challenge #81 which had a round option so off I ran to create.  Here is what I came up with:

Hopefully I will sneak in one more creation tonite...maybe...still have to pick the young son up from roller skating.  But...tomorrow there will surely be more!

LOVE THESE COLORS!

I loved the color combination over at Come and Get It Challenges and today I got an email about the challenge over at Cuttin and Stampin and amazingly they were the same - purple, green and yellow.  I took this wonderful combination and paired it up with the sketch from Scrapbook Express and here is the result.

The mat underneath the green square is also a pale yellow but for some reason in the photo it is looking off white.  Hope you have enjoyed another look at todays creative challenges!  Have a great nite!

HAPPY THURSDAY

I'm starting today off with a simple card.  I used sketch #178 from Sweet Sunday, 2 stamps (sentiment and leaves), 2 colors (red and black) and 2 embellishments (trim and rhinestones) for challenge #203 at Stamptacular Sunday, and Red and Black for Dilly Beans.  I am also submitting this for challenge #96 at Inspire Me Fridays which was an Anything Goes.

SHABBY ELEGANCE

My last creation for the evening is a Christmas card.  The challenge this week at the Shabby Tea Room was to use Aqua and Brown with a Silver element.  Merry Monday at Always Playing with Paper was to create an elegant Christmas card.  At Critter Sketch Challenge the theme was snowflakes and for Incy Wincy you needed to pop something up.  I used the required colors, both which were printed with snowflakes.  My silver element is an angel whose wings are popped up.  Oh, and there was a sketch I based it on from Dutch Dare.

GOD-SIZED DREAMING

Here I am again to talk about my God-sized dream and the progress I am making towards it.  I have hopes that I will be able to have a creative business/ministry using art to help the healing process of abused and hurting women and children.  This week's assignment is to share the "do what you can" steps towards this dream.  I have wanted to do something creative for a long time but had several detours along the way but last year in search of my Godly purpose it was confirmed that I need to use my creative gifts and that I want to do what I can to help women and children.  So far, I have not found the avenue to do this, but I keep plugging along, reading, praying and studying, working on my own personal healings and doing as much creating as I can find time for.  So, until God opens the right doors and windows I will patiently wait and continue to prepare for whatever He has in mind for me to do.

THREE FOR ALL

Here's todays first card.  I chose sketch #193 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday, the color palette from The Play Date Cafe and I used a few flowers for challenge #87 at My Craft Spot.

A QUICK TRIPLE PLAY!

Here's a simple card that I am entering in the following three challenges:

Shopping Our Stash #89 - birthday theme

Tuesday Throwdown - #134 Anything Goes

Party Time Tuesday - #107 use three of something

I started with a card base that I covered with a piece of green patterned paper.  I added to it some diecuts that have been in my stash probably for 8 or so years.  There are three candles.

Here's my card:

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope to have a bit more creating done later but not sure as I have a meeting to attend at church.  Away I go!

MAKING THE GOAL!

This weekend was another online crop and my normal goals for a weekend crop are 4 layouts and 4 cards.  Yesterday I obviously made the layout goal (and some).  For today I needed to complete the cards.  I was getting tired by the third but wanted to make the goal so here we are!

My first card was for the Paper Secrets CYAO challenge.  I had to use the following sketch plus 3+ hexagons and wood.  The Colorful Creations Creative Card Challenge called for using 3 patterned papers so this card also meets the criteria for that challenge.

I cut my 3 hexagons and layered them on top of each other.  Then I took a wood piece of holly.  I colored it first with markers and then to subdue it I went over the top with some black ink which I also used to ink the edges of my hexagons and circles.  I added a rub on sentiment which reads Seasons Greetings.

Here is my first card:

My second card used sketch #197 from Unscripted Sketches and the color palette challenge #102 Red, Pink, Purple and/or White from Die-cuttin Divas.  For this card I started with some pink patterned paper.  Next I cut a strip of Coredinations red/white cardstock which I embossed and sanded.  I backed this with some red cardstock.  I added a small square of purple cardstock on which I put a charm that reads 'Follow Your Bliss'.

The sketch:

The card:

Card #3 used Color Palette #229 from Color Throwdown and Deconstructed Sketch #89 from Decontructing Jen.  I used scallops and lace for the Frilly Challenge at Delightful Challenges.  I started with a layer of sparkly brown cardstock.  I edged some olive patterned paper with a scallop punch.  I added some blush cardstock which I also edged with the scallop punch.  I added a square that had the colors and the sentiment Let It Snow which was on a brown sticker. The edges of everything were inked with brown ink.   Last I added some white snowflake lace.

The palette:

My card:

My 4th and final creation for today used color palette #62 from Inspired By, and Pretty Patterns sketch number 82 from My Time Made Easy.  I added a butterfly which made it qualify for the "A" - Anything With Wings challenge from Alphabet Challenges, things with wings for Allsorts Challenges week #194, and Less Is More challenge #107 Up in the Air (things that fly).  I started this one with some yellow patterned paper, some yellow cardstock, grey herringbone patterned paper,  a white cardstock oval, some white gimp, and a yellow felt butterfly.

I hope you have enjoyed tonite's creations.  Thank you for stopping by and sweet dreams...I am off to bed!
