A LITTLE BIT OF GLITZ AND GLAM!

Today I am here to share a project that I worked really hard on and really enjoyed. It is using one of Julie Nuttings Decade stamps.  Her name is Ruby.

Here is what Julie has to say about her -

"Recently in a class, I was asked if my girls have stories behind them and the answer is, of course they do! As I  sit and draw I can't help but come up with stories. This is Ruby. Yes, I watch Downton Abbey and can't help but be infatuated with the clothes! Ruby is from this period and as I was drawing her I couldn't help but think about what life must have been like in the 20's. We all watched The Great Gatsby last year and this little lady seemed to be flirtatious and maybe a bit of a scandalous flapper. I'm thinking she may have even gone to Paris and hung out with all the artists and writers. Perhaps she may have even done some modeling for the well known artists of the day. I do know she would not have been happy at home making jam or sitting in the parlor doing stitchery all afternoon. She wasn't a bad girl (well maybe a bit naughty) she just wanted to experience the excitement of a new era."
And now for mine -

I created this as I was inspired by Fashionable Stamping Challenges #100 post.  They had an awesome blog hop and their Design Team really rocked it.  You should go check out their creations!

I wanted this piece to be sturdy so I cut my tag out of a heavy chipboard box that I had saved for just such an occasion!

and I want to share with you all the fun little details -
here we go from top to bottom-

When I researched the 1920's I saw lots of feathers so I thought this would be a fun accent. There were also lots of jewels - my first one is in her hair.

Next there is the little jewel around her neck and a fun long trand of beads.  I caught them up with a small rivet that I added a tiny jewel to the center.

I thought she might like to carry a pretty fan -
it's the summer and it is really hot and let's face it -
there was NO air conditioning back in those days!

Here are her beautiful patent leather shoes. First I colored them with a glittered black gel pen and then I coated them with Ranger's Glossy Accents.  I used some fun embossing folders to create the effect of a plank floor.

I had this cute little resin piece that I felt really described that era
 - Live in the moment!
I put a tiny piece of one of my patterned papers behind it
and then I mounted it on some ruffled white satin ribbon.

My background was done using a copper shiny cardstock which I embossed with a damask embossing folder and inked with a bit of Distress Ink Walnut Stain.

I edged my tag with one of my favorite Martha Stewart Deep Edge Border punches using a shiny pewter cardstock.  It reminds me of shells which for some reason I also associate with that era.

I so hope that you have enjoyed viewing this creation
as much as I enjoyed creating it!

I love hearing what you think of my work so
please please please leave me a comment!

Thanks so much for dropping by.

Please come back again soon!
