JINGLE ALL THE WAY HOLIDAY HOP DAY 1

Welcome to the
Colorful Creations Design Team
Jingle All The Way Holiday Hop!

We hope that you are ready for 3 days of fun, challenges, recipes and other holiday inspiration to get you on your way to a state of holiday bliss (or at least on the right path!)

By now you have enjoyed your Thanksgiving Dinner, football games, parades, and of course Black Friday wee hours of the morning shopping trips and are ready to sit back and relax with us.

You should have arrived at my blog from Lainie at Paper and Passementerie.

For my contribution to today's hop I am going to treat you to a quick and easy recipe that I just discovered this past week.  Please pardon the name, but they are called 'Slutty Brownies'.  They are truly a chocoplate lovers delight.

To make 'Slutty Brownies' you will need to have on hand the makings for chocolate chip cookies (or frozen chocolate chip cookie dough), Oreo cookies and the makings for brownies.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly grease a 13 x 9 baking pan with non-stick spray.

Prepare your chocolate chip cookie dough and brownies and take out a sleeve of Oreo cookies. Press your cookie dough into the bottom of the pan.  Top that with a single layer of Oreo cookies. Last pour your brownies over the top.  (I also decided to sprinkle some walnuts on top before popping the pan into the oven.) Soon my apartment was filled with the wonderful smell of chocolate.  About 30-35 minutes later use a toothpick to see if they are ready.  When the toothpick comes out clean you can remove them from the oven and allow them to cool.  Cut into squares and enjoy! (wonderful with a cold glass of milk, a cup of coffee or even topped with ice cream!)

One lucky commenter to my blog will receive a package of holiday goodies from me.  There is also a Grand Prize so you have 2 chances to win.  The winner on my blog will be randomly selected from the comments received. The Grand Prize winner will be randomly selected from those members that comment and participate in all of the challenges presented during the course of the hop.

Be sure to check each blog every day for more holiday inspiration.  Become a member of all of our blogs and leave a comment daily for a chance to win a fabulous Grand Prize of Scrappy Goodies! That’s right - not only will there be prizes on individual blogs but there will be a Grand Prize too!  Winner of the Grand Prize will be selected from members that comment and complete all of the challenges by 11:45 pm Thursday December 5, 2013.

Individual prizes will be announced on each member’s blog. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on the Colorful Creations site on Friday December 6, 2013.

Our Hopping order for today is:

I am the last stop for today. I hope you have enjoyed our holiday inspiration and will join us in creating some magic for your holidays with our projects and recipes.

GIVE THANKS

Today I'm here to share an altered project that I did for a swap that I am in at Kraftie Kreations.

We were to alter a fall colored charger plate.  I found a lovely bronze one that I really liked.  I picked up some large sunflowers (which I ended up not using), gold wire-edged ribbon and a variety of silk leaves. When I got ready to work on it I chose some patterned paper with a fall theme and a sticker that read 'give thanks'.  After applying the patterned paper and words I decided that I wanted to edge it with some ivory braid and gold pearls. Next I arranged the leaves in different bunches along the outer rim of the plate several times until I was satisfied.  I made a nice large bow and I found a few leaf stickers that I thought would also go well and added them in-between the clusters.

Here is my creation:

As I was busy preparing mine for shipping to my partner I was thrilled to receive this one from my partner, Cheri Parish.

I couldn't believe that we had both selected the same bronze charger!  I was thrilled.  I can't wait to find a special spot to display it.  It may be hard to see in the photo but it has verses 4-5 of Psalm 100 on it.  What a perfect reminder of God's love for this season of giving thanks.

I hope that Cheri will enjoy my creation as much as I am enjoying hers.

AIN'T IT GREAT

when everything you need just falls right into place?

Last night I sat down to choose a challenge to work on.

I selected this one from The Memory Nest:

I had this photo of my son, his girlfriend and her brother and his girlfriend that was taken in Times Square out on my desk.

There is a great story to the photo - this was the night John (Kathryn's brother) asked Sally to marry him.  He had all her friends and family in bleachers there and he did a 'mic' check and had everyone repeat what he was saying.  What a big exciting surprise.

Right next to the photo I saw a package of papers that I was trying to finish up that were exactly that color combo.

I rotated the sketch 1/4 turn clockwise.

I used a selection of embossing folders and I embossed (and de-bossed) my triangles.  (yes, the de-bossing was an accident - I didn't watch what side up I put the paper in but I thought it would be a good look for a change!)

I added a thankful quote.

And here it is:

I am also entering this layout in a site I just discovered - 3 Scrappy Boys in their 4th Anniversary Celebration sketch challenge which calls for flipping your sketch!

And now - another message - Paper Secrets is having a 45% off sale through November 30, 2013 and a great giveaway of a $20 gift certificate to the shop!  Head there and get some great bargains - I did!

Come back later as I plan to be busy creating later today!

A COMPANION FOR 'ALL OUT OF LOVE'

Last night I worked on a page to go to the right of my last one.  I used a sketch from The Memory Nest. The challenge also called for using a 'selfie' so that is me in the top photo.  I ended up doing this one in that same aqua color range as All Out Of Love.

Here is the Sketch:

And here is the Layout:

I am also going to enter this layout in Anything But a Card at Dilly Beans and Anything Goes challenge #193 at Fab 'n Funky.

Off to work on creating something - I have an altered charger plate and 12 ATCs I need to do for swaps but if I work on those you won't be able to see them until after my partners receive them.  But, check back later anyway!  Thanks for stopping by.

ALL OUT OF LOVE

Today's layout is using lyrics from the Air Supply song 'All out of Love' for the Colorful Creations November Song Challenge.  I used a sketch from Life.Paper.Scrapbook which I rotated 1/4 turn clockwise.  I created it using various shades of an aqua blue and a drop of navy for the Monochrome challenge at Scrapbook.com.

Here is the Sketch:

and here is my Layout:

I hope to get to some creating after dinner so check back in later or in the morning to see what I have come up with.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope that you have had a fabulous weekend!

COME PLAY TIC TAC TOE WITH THE SCRAPS TO TREASURE TEAM

Welcome to the Scraps ToTreasure Team
Tic Tac Toe Blog Hop

Our hop today started at Robin's blog (be sure you started there as she is offering some fun blog candy!), it moves next to Camille and finally you will have arrived here!

For today's hop I started by choosing my row from our Tic Tac Toe board.

I chose the left diagonal row - Paint/Blue/Embossing

Next I went to the scrap pile and pulled out a selection of blue and silver papers.

I decided to use sketch #232 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.

I inked the edges of my card base, selected some of my scraps and cut them to size

After that I chose an embossing folder with snowflakes and embossed one of my blue scraps.  After it was dry embossed I decided to add a bit of pizzazz to it by doing some heat embossing.

Then I took an old chipboard box and diecut a snowflake with a Sizzix die.  I painted it with a Ranger Snow Cap Paint Dauber and then I added some of that sparkley embossing powder and heat embossed this as well.  I added a bit of bling in the center.

I had a scrap piece of snowflake ribbon which I added over one of the scraps and I stamped my greeting on one of the silver scraps and cut it to size.

And finally - here is my card:

I am also entering this in Divas by Design Something Snowy challenge, 4 Crafty Chicks challenge #168 Snowflakes, Creative Knockouts challenge #11 - Make it Sparkle and Crafty Creations challenge #248 - Dies and Punches.

Thanks for joining us for our game of Tic Tac Toe!

FALL MAY BE UPON US BUT SUMMER SAYS HELLO!

All I got done tonite was one card.  I was looking forward to going to an all day crop tomorrow in Marland but my scrapping buddy has the flu and my throat is pretty raw and I've been sneezing like crazy all day.  So instead we will both be home nursing our illnesses and hopefully at least doing a tad of creating. I really enjoyed using the inspiration photo from the SEI Lifestyle blog along with Sketch #DS127 from Deconstructing Jen and some twine for challenge #146 at Party Time TuesdayColorful Creations Creative Card Challenge and T is for Twine at The Alphabet Challenge Blog.

Here is the Inspiration photo:

From the inspiration photo I chose to use the colors (and the SEI On the Coast collection).  The colors in this range of papers was simply perfect for this challenge.  And then I mimiced the crab with a fussy cut flower that I inked the undersides of with Distress Ink in Ripe Persimmon. Next I fussy cut a leaf to resemble the top of the pineapple. I kept both of these only tacked in their centers to give dimension.   Last I looped twine all around the sides and added a twine tied button to the flower center and stamped the sentiment 'HELLO' at the bottom

And here is the Sketch:

Here is my Card:

I forgot that I am blog hopping in the morning so I am off to make another creation before I head off to bed! Please stop by again later and hop along - there are prizes!

A SLOW CELEBRATION

I started this layout last night and it took all this time to get it done.  These are a few not very good photos that were taken on my birthday this year.  As they are all I have from this year I figured I'd use them even though there was nothing more I could do to improve them.  The layout actually started taking shape when I went into my file of birthday papers planning to scrap Thomas' or Michael's birthday and I saw the sad little Panda Bear.  It so suit my birthday this year.  I had just gotten out of the hospital a few days prior.  Robert had school so Thomas and I went out for dinner alone.  I bought our family tradition ice cream cake for myself.  I know we waited for Robert to be home to have the cake but for some reason there were no photos with him in them.

I am entering this in Die-Cuttin Divas challenge #141 Buttons.  (I of course also used die-cuts - the swirls are one of my favorite Sizzix dies which I cut in various patterns and coated with paint and glitter.)  I used bright seasonal colors for the Try it on Tuesday Color Explosion challenge.

I am also entering this in Colorful Creations November Favorite Things challenge.  The assignment was to pick a favorite thing you are thankful for that is outside the box of family, loved ones and friends - more like a cup of coffee, a sunset etc.  The reason I am entering this layout as it is one of our favorite family traditions to have an ice cream cake that is served on a platter that matches my Pfaltzgraff Tea Rose dishes but says Happy Birthday on it.  I love having ongoing family traditions, this is my favorite set of dishes and who wouldn't love ice cream cake?

So, without further ado here is my layout:

and of course it is now quite late as usual and I need to hurry off to bed as I have early appointments tomorrow for my mammogram and with my hematologist.  Hopefully soon I will have some answers to the confusion and fatigue that has been plaguing me this year.

Thanks for stopping by.  Please come back again soon!

Before heading off to bed I decided to try and do a layout.  I chose November Sketch #1 from Let's Get Sketchy and the Fashion Recipe from the My Scraps and More Fashion/Design Pinterest crop challenge.  I am also entering this in the Creative Monthly Project challenge on Colorful Creations.  The challenge called for using bling - which I used a strip of red bling down the right hand side.

Here's the sketch:

Here's the Pinterest Inspiration:

colors: Red, Black, Grey, and White
Rugged Jeans- Distress on your page

NOT A VERY PRODUCTIVE WEEK...

I noticed that I have not done a blog post since last weekend.  I have not been feeling well and haven't had much mojo so I apparently got very little done.  The only layout I see for this week was for the Colorful Creations Member Spotlight using this sketch:

And here is my layout:

I am going to enter this layout into Scrapbook.com November Boys Only challenge, November Hoarders challenge, and November Two Pic challenge.

I also just remembered that I created this for the Hair Pinterest Challenge for the crop on My Scraps and More.

I am also doing a linky party today for the first time...so I hope I do this right...

Hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to a fun filled week!  Thanks for stopping by.

Now let's get hopping! If you havent already started head to Janet's Creative World where it all began (and where those awesome stamps are up for grabs!)

Today turned out to be the perfect day as Michael decided to buy his sister a gift card for her birthday and needed a holder.

I have never created a gift card holder before.  I just bought a great die to do one but as I haven't tried it out I figured the learning curve might take longer. (Boy was I wrong!)  I found some tutorials on YouTube and worked from some of those instructions.

First I cut my Kraft cardstock and used my favorite border punch on the edge.  Then, as I nearly always do - I edged everything with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Next I cut some birthday paper to fit both of the outsides.

I didn't care for the belly band idea with the pattern I was using so instead I added a few glue dots on the back and put a coordinating ribbon.

I added a bit more of my patterned paper and a sentiment inside.

And finally I am finished!

Now you're off to: So Many Crafts So Little time
