THE GRADUATE

Today I needed two Graduation cards for a party we are going to.  The school colors were blue and white so I did them up in a blue monochromatic color scheme for challenge TPE209 at The Pink Elephant.  For the first one I used Sketch #65 from Feeling Sketchy with a Sizzix Diploma die, a Martha Stewart border punch and a stamp.

Here's the sketch:

And the card:

For my second card I used sketch #2 from the July Card Sketch challenge on Scrapbook.com, lots of Distress inks, and the Sizzix Paper Doll, Grad outfit, diploma and shoes, and a vellum sentiment with 2 rhinestones.

Here's the sketch:

And the card:

So Congratulations to Brittany on her graduation from Immaculata University!

Hope that you have enjoyed these cards and you will come back and visit again tomorrow!

WHAT WOULD I DO WITHOUT YOU?

I love Delaware.  People here are so nice, so caring, so helpful.  I moved here from New Jersey about 18 months ago.  This past year I have had the most difficult year of my life.  I have experienced trauma in every area of my life - healthwise, emotionally, financially, with my apartment, my car - simply everything!  When I arrived I went to a church I found online that was in the neighborhood.  I had emailed them while I was still in New Jersey and they replied.  I decided I would try them first.  Well, after my very first visit I knew I was 'home'.  They have upheld me in prayer, visited me, helped me financially.  The other day my car broke down in the library parking lot (yet again).  I called my son's friend's step-father who always has helped me out when I have had car trouble (and never takes a dime!)  He came out and the problem was more complex than we had expected.  It has been 3 days.  I did not even mention that I had several doctor appointments I had or other appointments. As he was driving me home he passed my street.  I said - you just missed the turn.  He said no I didn't.  We are going back to my house to talk to my wife.  We walked in and she handed me the keys to her mini-van which I have been using for the last 3 days.  People here just have done such amazing things.  Have shown such love and care I am just overwhelmed with gratitude.  I have been SO blessed in so many many ways.

I sat down tonite to choose a card challenge.  I picked color challenge #32 from Sunnyside Up Creations Blog and sketch #189 from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I looked on my table which is filled with miscellaneous supplies and there were a few great sheets of chipboard from Scenic Route and there were flowers that matched the color scheme perfectly that had simply the absolute perfect sentiments.

Now aren't those chipboard flowers THE BEST?

I am also submitting this card to Word Art Wednesday for the Anything Goes Challenge #90

ANOTHER PAGE FROM HAGLEY

I had a rough day yesterday spending all of it in the ER with a very disabling migraine rather than at a Bridal Shower I had been looking forward to.  Today I spent a great deal of the day still in bed but I was able to get up and get one creation completed.  It is another layout from my day at Hagley.  I did this one for the Colorful Creations Say it With Words challenge using the person in the photo's name.  I used a sketch from Scrapbook.com July Page Maps sketch challenge sketch #2.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

And I guess I will head off to bed and create more tomorrow!  Thanks again for stopping by!

For my first card I used all of those colors and sketch #3 from this months Scrapbook.com Card Sketch Challenge.

My first card:

My next creation was for the Kraftie Kre8tions Recipe Challenge using the following:

1. Any thing but a "plain square or rectangle" card

2. Must have 2 layers plus 1 embossed layer

3. Sentiment - Thinking of you, Get Well or Just Because

4. Must include a ribbon

5. Any other embellishment you like.

I chose to create a round monochromatic card.  I used my favorite Sizzix embossing folder, a Sizzix butterfly die and ribbon roses.

My Second card:

My final creation for this evening was another card for Kraftie Kre8tions. This was for the Sketch Challenge.

Here's the Sketch:

I opted to rotate the sketch 1/4 turn clockwise.

CRAZY...I MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY

The inspiration for my card was the word 'CRAZY' which is the word for the week at Sunnyside Up Creations starting today!  I just picked up a new stamp that I decided would work just fine - MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY!  I decided to use sketch #207 from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  This week they added a twist - use an animal image.  I loved the colors of the inspiration photo #250 at Cupcake Craft Challenges. Here is how I put them all together -

The sketch:

I found the perfect little monkey to go not only with using an animal but the theme CRAZY and the colors too!

A CARD FOR THE NIGHT

I didn't have much time for creating this evening as I went to a going away party for a friend moving to Savannah, GA on Sunday.  I really wanted to do something and I loved the color palette #CTD251 on Color Throwdown so I started with that.  I wanted to use butterflies and flowers for the "E" challenge at Colorful Creations.  I chose card sketch #1 from this month's card sketch challenge on Scrapbook.com.  I am also submitting this to Word Art Wednesday for Anything Goes #89 and Tuesday Throwdown for Anything Goes #156.

This was the color palette:

And now I'd best be off to bed.  Hope to see you tomorrow!

MY VISIT TO HAGLEY - PAGE 1

Tonite I worked on a layout that covers a lot of bases.  I started with papers and a journal tag I received for the Ugly Paper Challenge on Scrapbook.com.

Here is what I had to start working with:

As I began to look for photos to work with I noticed that the first photo in the first envelope I peeked into perfectly matched the paper on the left.  Now I was ready to roll...

I looked for a sketch I could work with and found the perfect one - #116 from Sketches in Thyme.

One of the word challenges on Sunnyside Up Creations was the word "ENJOY".  I really did enjoy hearing the beginning of the duPont story and touring where it all began.  Which reminded me that there was a brand new challenge blog that opened yesterday called Use Your Words and the very first challenge was to use the word "STORY".

I continued searching my supplies and discovered some Tim Holtz Retro Grunge papers in the same color combo.  I chose a sheet to use for my background.  I found another with some perfect little squares.  As the layout developed I chose some black rickrack, I flipped the journaling card over, stamped it with my favorite Donna Salazar stamp and clipped the corners.  I inked the edges of everything.  I decided on my title - Enjoy the Story and added it onto the tag with some letters that were a perfect match from a sheet of stickers from 100 Days of Summer that had been laying on my desk forever.  I put all that together, added the date that I went and it was beginning to feel complete when I noticed a package of Petaloo flowers that had 2 that were a wonderful match.  As I went to take the photo I saw some wonderful little black half pearls and added them.  Finally...here is the result -

I can't wait to start working with this batch of photos.  The museum was very 'Steampunk' and I don't often get to work in that style so I am expecting to get to play with some different sort of embellishments and mediums.  I took several photos so over the next several weeks get prepared to view the duPont story beginning with Hagley - where it all began.  I intend to visit the Nemours Mansion and Gardens to hear more of the story of this great Delaware family and of course to take more photos!

Thanks for stopping by!
